My all time favourite reads!
I have lived a thousand lives & I've loved a thousand loves. I've walked on distant worlds & seen the end of time, because I READ.
- George R.R Martin.
The story of my reading journey ultimately starts when I was a very little girl and my mum's passion for reading to us addicted me to books from a young age. Growing up however I always and only read Fiction, and although there is nothing wrong with that, fiction never changed my life, personal development books did.
It was at age 22 when I picked up my first ever personal development book which was a book that became the catalyst moment for me changing my life. That book is in the list below but it was 'Awaken the Giant within' by Tony Robbins.
NOW - before you dive into the below list of my top reads of all time, know this.
Not all books are actually meant for you, and just because they were a catalyst in my life doesn't mean they necessarily will for you, always have discernment when reading books. If it's not landing or you're struggling to get through it, put it down. It's not meant for you right now, maybe ever.
For example, Awaken the Giant within for me was earth shattering at the time, I dove in and completed every exercise (as I always do when a book is shifting things for me), but picking it up again several years later, I couldn't get through half of it this time as I just cellularly knew the content, it wasn't a book I needed again.
So pick books up, & put them down again or finish them cover to cover, the point is to pick them up in the first place. There is a saying in life that readers are leaders, and at a core level, it's absolutely true.
Since that very first personal development book though at 22, I have since read HUNDREDS of personal development books, some several times over & over (Big Leap by Gay Hendricks is one example, I've read it 7 times now). And out of the hundreds, so many which have the same context or ideologies, the below are still to this day for me the top books I recommend to anyone and everyone who asks for my top book reccy's.
Underneath that will always contain the months current reads, as to this day I still am reading 1-2 books a month (and yes, they're still always personal development).
